Automated congratulatory emails to students used to come from my college email address. Why do they now come from noreply@lumenone.com?
Background
The method used in Waymaker and other older products included an automated email functionality that "spoofed" the teacher's email address making the email appear as it sent by the teacher.
Almost all email applications have now blocked this type of automated delivery. This has created issues with students getting Waymaker emails because their campus will detect the spoof and label the emails as either spam and/or potentially harmful. Our email spoofing is not harmful, and we understand that it is difficult for email applications to know the difference.
Why The Change?
We made this change in Lumen One to keep up with changing security standards in the industry. We recognize that the messages look different to our Waymaker faculty, but this update ensures that the responses to these emails will go as expected to our Lumen One teachers. When a student clicks "Reply" on an email from Lumen One, the "to" field of the reply email will be the faculty college email and not the "no reply" email. We hope this change improves the communication between teachers and students using Lumen One.
