You may customize Lumen One Study Plans from your Faculty Engagement Center by hiding topics and assessments for content you don't cover.
Important Note: Make Study Plan customizations BEFORE students start the module. Changes made after students have completed Study Plan work can cause discrepancies in LMS gradebook.
Study Plan customization allows you to hide topics WITHIN a module.
Instructions
- From any Lumen One course, enter your Faculty Engagement Center and select “Customize Study Plan."
- Click Customize Study Plan.
3. From the module list on the left, select a module that you wish to customize.
Instructions appear on every page of the customization process to guide you.
Study Plan customization allows you to hide topics WITHIN a module. In this example below, we are using the Introduction to Business course, but the instructions are the same for all Lumen One courses.
Simply select the module you wish to customize from the Module List on the left hand side. For this walk-through, we’re going to select the Management module.
4. Uncheck Study Plan topic(s) that you wish to hide from the students’ Study Plan.
From within the module, you will see all of the study plan topics and their associated Learning Outcomes. All topics automatically default to display, which is noted with the blue checkmark.
To remove a topic from your module, unselect it by clicking on the blue checkmark.
In the screenshot below, we selected to remove “Planning” from the Management module. The note at the top indicates we are hiding one topic and the associated 3 learning outcomes. Saving this change will mean content, self-check assessments AND any quiz questions associated with these learning outcomes will be hidden from students.
5. Follow the prompts at the top to keep track of your customizations. Once you’ve saved your customizations, you will see a “Customized” notation above the module name in the module list. You will also see that the topic you’ve chosen has been hidden.
6. Click Save when finished.
Best Practices
- Unchecking Study Plan topics automatically removes assessments. Students will not be assessed on content you have hidden in their Study Plan.
- Modules that are customized will display in purple where you’ve made changes.
- You cannot uncheck all topics from a module.
- If you wish to exclude an entire module, hide or unpublish that Study Plan and Quiz module(s) from the list of Lumen One links in your LMS.
- Make Study Plan customizations BEFORE students start the module.
- Changes made after students have completed Study Plan work can cause discrepancies in LMS gradebook.
- At any point, you can restore a hidden module by returning to the “Customize Study Plan” menu from the Faculty Engagement Center, selecting the desired module and re-checking the hidden module.
